British Columbia – Hind Sight

Hind Sight’s Canada Fishing Charter operates out of British Columbia’s Vancouver Island. They are popular with people from Seattle as well as Vancouver. They specialize in trophy-size salmon fishing as well as halibut. The waters off the island are plentiful with both king salmon and halibut. The charter runs out of Port Renfrew from June to September.  For the rest of the year, they follow the king salmon south for the winter and fish out of nearby Sooke.

Hind Sight claim that they have never had a guest fisherman return without a catch. They also specialize in catching the giant trophy Pacific halibut. The Canadian halibut can be as large as two hundred pounds and is much more difficult to catch and harder fighting than the salmon. Canadian halibut is more easily found in the waters off Sooke in the month of March.

Hind Sight recommends getting a Canadian Fishing License before coming to Port Renfrew. A Salmon Conservation Stamp is also required if fishing for salmon. The $6.42 stamp lasts a whole year. The annual British Columbia fishing license costs $28.89 for residents and $114.49 for non-residents. One to five day licenses are slightly cheaper and there are discounts for children and seniors.
