The French Bulldog belongs to the group of French Mastiff dogs . It was originally bred in England as a smaller version of the English Bulldog but was later mixed with the French Terrier in France and came to be known as the French Bulldog and developed into a truly international breed.

The French Bulldog bitch usually has a litter of about 2 to 5 puppies. The puppy when born is very cute and lovable, with a flat face and bat like ears and grows to a height of about 11 to 13 inches. French Bulldog puppies must be checked for elongated or cleft palate as this breed is prone to this type of disorder.

Even when young they are energetic and playful. In as much as the adult French Bulldog is gentle with a pleasing temperament, playful and hilarious, the French Bulldog puppy is additionally more so. The French Bulldog puppy is alert and tries to hang on to those around it.

These puppies almost always get along well with other breeds of dogs, such as French poodles,  and do not cause many problems in this aspect. These puppies thrive best with older children. These puppies can not endure rough play and it is better that they are not allowed to have contact with smaller children.

The French Bulldog puppy is also somewhat obstinate by nature and consistency is required in the training methods adopted. The males tend to show some aggressiveness and have to be trained at an early age to be obedient.

But ruthless training measures should be avoided at all cost as it will only aggravate the particular trait in the puppy as they do not act well in response to such kind of treatment. Exceptional patience is required in the training of the French Bulldog puppy.
