The producer of the DVD believes that Italy is a region that is full of life. In fact he believes that the richness of the Italian way of life is under shadow of the religious sentiments that arise from the Vatican.

The Italians love to play soccer and can be seen riding motor scooters all across the country. It is also a region of hip fashion trends, great coffee and “the sweetness of doing nothing”. He explains that the prim and properly dressed citizens of Italy are skillful maniacs when it comes to driving on the streets and they are very fond of taking a walk in the evenings.

In the DVD entitled “Rick Steve’s Italy” you will be able to find in-depth information on trip planning, vacation accommodation, restaurants and eateries, tourist or facilities, transport facilities, local festivals and holidays, telephones, mail and email along with the survival phrases that you may need to learn when you visit Italy. The most prominent part of the Rick Steve’s Italy guide are the easy-to-follow maps that give a detailed yet comprehensive overview of the various regions of Italy. The maps cover all the sites of Italy with the absence of the illustrated city walks and Museum tours which can be found in Rick’s other city guidebooks.

Rick Steve covers the biggies of Italy which include the city of Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, Assisi, Lucca and Pisa. He also identifies a number of sites close to Venice which include Padua, Verona, Vicenza and Ravenna. Italy also has a number of hill towns in the central regions that are worth visiting according to Steve. The foremost amongst them are Cortona San Gimignano, Montepulciano and Orvieto.

The Clinque Terre is another region that has a number of must see sites such as Vernazza, Manarola, Corngilia, Riomaggiore and Monterosso. Other Riviera towns that have been covered in the DVD include Sestri Levant, Levanto, Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure.

Naples and the Amalfi Coast get a special review as Rick Steve pays special attention to Positano, Capri, Ravello, Herculaneum and the historical region of Pompeii. Also covered in the DVD are the northern lakes and peaks such as Lake Maggiore and the Dolomites.

The highlight of Rick Steve’s Italy guide is however, the full color fold out planning map which covers the whole of Italy and has close ups of the lakes and peaks to add to the pleasure of the explorer.
