Born on 8 January 1986 in the city of Valencia Spain, David Silva is a popular footballer who plays for the Spanish national team as well as Valencia CF. He is regarded as being one of the most exciting European footballers in his league and plays at the position of midfielder.

David Silva first appeared on the international league scene at SD Eibar. He played 35 league games for the first team after which he was given on loan to Valencia. He scored a total of five goals during his season with that league. He was again loaned out in 2005 to play for Celta Vigo. He played a total of 31 matches with the team in which he scored four goals. This particular season was very good for the Spanish footballer as he managed to prove himself as a formidable midfielder. Following his performances in the league he started to attract the attention of a variety of big clubs. Among the first clubs to make a bid for the Spaniard was Tottenham. However Valencia was quick to sign a fresh contract with David Silva after having seen his potential.

During his short career David Silva has also played for the Spanish under 21 international team. He managed to score a total of four goals in the FIFA World Youth Championship held in 2005. That performance earned him the fourth rank in the goal scoring statistics for the tournament.

Silva is considered to be highly versatile in terms of his skills. This can be seen by the fact that he has performed remarkably at different positions. He has played as a left winger, right winger, midfielder as well as a playmaker for the different teams that he has been a part of. Although the youngster has a slight built he is often compared to the former Valencia player Pablo Aimar. In fact on being incorporated into the team he was awarded Aimar’s number 21 shirt.
