The Guggenheim Museum is one of the top tourist destinations in Bilbao Spain. This museum in Bilbao is one of the most prestigious in Spain and is noted for its architecture as much as its artwork. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao was built in the late 1990’s by American architect Frank O. Gehry. The unusual building with its superb use of space and light make it a prime attraction in Bilbao. The artwork inside is predominantly avant-garde contemporary artwork from Spain. If you do visit the Guggenheim in Bilbao take a light sweater or cardigan with you as the interior is air conditioned and quite cold.

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Opening Times

The Guggenheim, like most museums in Spain is closed on Mondays except in the summer months of July and August when normal opening hours apply. From Tuesdays to Sundays the Museum is open from 10am until 8pm. The Guggenheim Museum is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Ticket Prices

Standard entrance for adults at the Guggenheim is 10.50 Euros.  Students under the age of 26 and Adults over 65 get in for 7.50 euros. Kids under the age of 12 get in free provided they are accompanied by an adult.

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Guides

Guided tours to the Guggenheim are offered daily in English. There are four guided tours a day at 11am, 12.30pm, 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Alternatively the museum offers audio guides providing explanations on the history, architecture and exhibitions at the museum.

The Guggenheim Museum is located at number 2 Abandoibarra in the centre of the city. If you’re traveling by metro the nearest station is Moyua.  Bus lines that stop near the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao include numbers 1,10,13 and 18.
