Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

The neighbouring island of Lanzarote is different to Fuerteventura because of the differing landscapes. Because Lanzarote is a volcanic island the landscape is blackened because of all of the lava. Fuerteventura, on the other hand, is a famous island holiday destination for its beautiful, white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.

Transportation and Tours

From Corralejo in Fuerteventura one needs to take a ferry to Playa Blanca, which is in Lanzarote. From here these is a bus that will transport you to Timanfaya which is a natural park. Here one will travel along the beautiful landscape. This tour is guided where visitors can view the different craters and volcanos. Included in this tour are some geothermal demonstrations intended to show the audience the sheer power of the heat right below the surface of the ground.

One of the most spectacular sights in Lanzarote is the Timanfaya, which means ‘Fire Mountain’. This is an active and live volcano with underground lava tunnels and caves. Also included in the tour is a visit to a natural oven where meals are prepared.

The ferry from Lanzarote to Playa Blanca is just half an hour in duration. The last ferry is at 19:00 so after the tour one can enjoy the beach, shopping and restaurants of Lanzarote. Earlier ferries back to Corralejo depart at 15:00 and 17:00.
