Korean ginseng is a root rather than a plant that thrives in northern China, Eastern Siberia and South Korea due to the cool climates. It is considered one of the 11 species that form part of the Panax genus and is categorized under the Araliaceae family. Ginseng is actually characterized by the presence of ginsenosides, which are considered active enzymes providing it the healing properties.
