Irish Songs
Irish Songs posts cover both the traditional ballad repertoire and the more recent Irish folk and rock canon. Articles look at sean-nos unaccompanied singing in the Irish language, the come-all-ye ballads of the nineteenth-century broadside trade, the rebel songs of the 1916 generation, the long career of the Clancy Brothers and the Dubliners, the Christy Moore and Planxty era, the modern session repertoire heard in pubs from Dingle to Dublin and the more recent acts including the Pogues and Lankum. There are also notes on which songs are old and which were written for the folk revival.
