Danish Furniture
Danish Furniture is the design tradition that came out of Copenhagen between roughly 1945 and 1970 and gave the world the term mid-century modern. Articles look at the cabinetmaker tradition that produced Hans Wegner’s Wishbone and Round chairs, Finn Juhl’s sculptural seating, Arne Jacobsen’s Egg, Swan and Series 7 chairs, Borge Mogensen’s solid pieces, Poul Henningsen’s PH lamps, the Eames-rivalling work of Verner Panton and the role of the Royal Furniture Foundation in keeping standards high. There are also notes on Danish hallmarks and on the difference between a real Wegner Wishbone and a recent reproduction.
