German Eagle
German Eagle posts cover the Reichsadler and Bundesadler that have served as the German national emblem in different forms over the centuries. Articles look at the older Holy Roman Empire double-headed eagle, the Prussian eagle, the Weimar single-headed eagle, the Reichsadler used between 1933 and 1945 with its swastika in the wreath which is now banned in Germany, and the modern Bundesadler designed for the Federal Republic in 1950. There are also notes on the symbol’s use on coins, passports and the official seal, and on the difference between the Bundesadler and the simpler eagle on the football team’s crest.
