This is a relatively simple yet totally indulging appetizer dish. Basically all you need for this recipe are Irish sausages and crescent rolls. Irish Cheese Bites with Chutney
This Irish appetizer dish is made using top quality ricotta, parmesan and soft goat’s cheese along with puff pastry and mango chutney. You will start by mixing the cheeses together in a bowl. On the side you will spread the pastry on to a floured surface and roll it lightly. You will then cut out circles from the pastry and place them on the baking sheet. After pricking the pastry with a fork bake them until the pastry rises. This should take no more then ten minutes. Once the pastry is done take it out and pour one teaspoon of the cheese mixture into each pastry. Bake the pastry again till the cheese starts to melt and the pastry turns golden brown from the edges. Add the finger licking finishing touch with a spoonful of mango chutney.
Irish Sausage Kebabs
This appetizer is a unique form of sandwich native to the country of Ireland. It is very popular in Ireland and in many ways resembles the American hot dog. The dish is comprised of an Irish sausage with onions and tomatoes as toppings. The vegetables are marinated in vinaigrette. The sausage is then wrapped in a puff pastry and put in the oven to bake. The word kebab may mislead some people to believe the recipe makes use of Middle Eastern style kebabs although such is not the case.
Prawn Bundles with Herb Mayonnaise
This is another all time favorite Irish appetizer delicacy. It is made using prawns, chives, filo pastry, butter and salt and pepper. For the herb mayonnaise you will need some curry powder, mustard, chives, lemon and black peppercorns.
Dip the prawns in the lemon juice and peppercorns and put them to bake till they start to change color. Sprinkle the cayenne pepper, chives, salt and pepper on to prawns.
On the side place the mayonnaise in a bowl and add the mustard, chives and curry powder mixing it to a fine consistency. Refrigerate when ready.
Finally you will take the filo pastry and brush it with butter and cut them into squares of equal size. Then you will take two tablespoons of the prawn mixture and add that to each square. The corners are propped up to create a parcel. Tie a string around each parcel and bake until they become crispy golden. Use the chopped chives to garnish the parcels and serve them on top of a bed of mayonnaise.
