It is a moderately difficult task and better suited to people who have actually experienced baking before.
To get started you must have the equipment as well as ingredients ready for the Cuban bread recipe. You cannot substitute the bread flour and bread machine yeast with any other product otherwise you will not get the desired results. You will require a bread machine for this recipe.  To get the ingredients ready, take 3 cups of bread flour and 2 1/2 teaspoons of yeast that has been developed for use in bread machines, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, half a teaspoon of salt and 2 teaspoons of sugar along with 1 cup of warm tap water.

How to Prepare the Ingredients For The Cuban Bread

Mix the ingredients in your bread machine by following the instructions given by the manufacturer for processing dough on the dough cycle. This process takes approximately 25 minutes and there is a short rise and a long rise in the end of the process.

Using the Oven in the Proper Manner for Cuban Bread

Place wax paper on the rolling surface and flour the surface then put all the dough on it. Prepare the baking sheet and line it with parchment and sprinkle cornmeal on top of it. Don’t knock down or knead the dough; simply pat it into shape to look like a thin long bread loaf or a large oval which is approximately 10 to 12 inches in diameter. Shake some corn meal on top of the dough and make three diagonal lines on the bread. Cover and heat at 350° for only one minute and turn it off. Cover up the bread loaf with wax paper and place it in a warm oven and let it rise for 30 minutes. Now remove the cover and reheat the oven to 375°C and from this point forward, bake the bread for 42-45 minutes.

To check if the Cuban bread is ready, tap it gently at the bottom. If the bread is baked through then the whole loaf will sound hollow. If the loaf is very long then it will bake through faster and may be cooked in 30 minutes. Using a bread machine really takes the hassle out of kneading the dough but the end results are the same as conventionally prepared bread – amazing tasting bread that fills the house with its rich aroma.
