Zacatecas Mexico
Zacatecas Mexico is a colonial city in the centre-north of the country, set in a high desert valley at over 2,400 metres. Articles look at the silver mining history that built the centre, the cathedral as one of the masterpieces of Mexican Baroque, the cable car across the city to the Cerro de la Bufa, the Quinta Real hotel built inside an old bullring, the museums dedicated to Pedro Coronel and Rafael Coronel, the long drive to the colonial mining towns of Guadalupe and Jerez and the food traditions including asado de boda. There are practical notes on the high altitude.
