One of the perks of being a woman is getting a pedicure and if it’s a French pedicure even better. Even though French pedicure toes did not really catch on as much as the French manicure but there are several patrons who swear by the clean and neat look of French pedicure toes.

The color scheme for a French pedicure is the same as for a French manicure, the lily whites with the pinks or the beiges. Of course you can give yourself a French pedicure but the extras like the soak in the warm water, the lotion and the massage make it worth every penny that you pay in the salon for a French pedicure. Generally a French pedicure in the salon will set you back by as much as $20- $30 not a big price to pay for the comfort and luxury and of course the feeling of relaxation. But it is equally easy to give yourself a French pedicure and it can be done for less than half the cost. Here is how;

The first thing that you will need is the nail polish. Usually these bottles are available in most drug stored for about $3, get two colors, one white and the other should be pink, You can choose a metallic pink for a more jazzy look. For the white go for a brand that offers French manicure nail polish like L’Oreal. Since you will be applying two layers of nail polish make sure that you don’t pick nail colors with very thick bases as these can be hard to dry. Apart from the nail color you will need some warm water and some lotion.

Now you don’t necessarily have to soak your feet in the warm water if you are in a hurry you can just start with the nail polish but if you have some time on your hands a soak in the warm water can relax you tremendously. It will also be good for removing the dead skin from your toes and feet and for exfoliation.  After soaking your feet for about 10 to 15 minutes, massage the lotion onto your feet paying attention to your toes, cuticles, ankles and even calf muscles for total relaxation. Use a cuticle pusher to push the cuticles back and now you can start trimming and filing your nails. You will need long toe nails for a French pedicure so don’t clip them too short. You can go for a round or a square cut but the square shape will make the application of the nail polish easier.

After your nails are trimmed and filed, apply a base coat of pink or beige to all the toes and let it dry. Next you will have to apply the white nail color; you have to be careful with the size of the white band since it should look symmetrical across all the toes. After this coat is completely dry apply a final base coat of the pink or beige that you started with. This should be a thin layer and Viola! You have your French pedicure toes.
