Cytometer India

Interested in learning about the use of cytometers in India? Do you want to discover how the cytometer is used in India? Read our guide for more facts and information…

Cytometry is a branch of science that has been used in medical research and has led to many important developments. It is generally speaking a technique used for counting and examining particles, commonly cells, which are suspended in a stream of fluid. This branch of science has also contributed knowledge to the fields of immunology, cell cycle, developmental biology, and cellular biochemistry. Cytometry itself has been used specifically to rapidly analyze cells, which allows for the detection of potentially cancerous tumours. This ability is particularly important in early cancer detection and combating this potential fatal disease. The practice of cytometry can also be used to analyze parasites and has also been used to assist in the treatment of HIV/AIDS and to count blood cells. It is used throughout the world and is currently in the infancy stage in India.

The Cytometer is the tool used in the practice of cytometry. Cytometers are able to analyze several thousand particles in real time similar to the abilities of an advanced microscope. When the cytometer was first developed it was much less effective than the tool used today. This is because the Cytometer has vastly improved with modern technological advancements. In order for the data produced by the tool to be analyzed a computer is necessary to provide magnification. Today over 300 units are located in different parts of India as cytometers have been purchased by medical and research centres.

Workshops

Cytometry is in the infancy stage in India and due to this workshops have been organized to promote understanding of the field. The global medical community has worked in tandem to share knowledge and ensure that residents of the entire world benefit from the knowledge of cytometry. The workshops that have been organized since 2001 allow practiced scientists and doctors from Canada, the United States and Europe to share their knowledge with their counterparts located in India. The workshops include a variety of lectures, discussions, and hands on demonstrations illustrating the application of cytometry. Since 2001 over 600 Indian researchers have been exposed to and learned about the techniques used by cytometers.

Society of India

The Cytometry Society of India was founded on September 16th of 2005. The Society was founded to promote the use of cytometry in clinical research. The Society also has goals that focus on offering a professional forum for discussion with India’s medical community. Cytometry is also developed by the Society as it conducts educational seminars. The Cytometry Society of India also plays a public role as it attempts to generate knowledge of cytometry within both the Indian government as well as Non-Governmental Organizations. The Society also acts to create connections between India and other countries that practice cytometry while generating research opportunities as information is published on the Cytometer.
