Mexican blankets date back to the 20th century. The term Mexican blanket is in itself a broad term which includes many different styles which are part of both, theSouth-western and Mexican culture.

The blankets come in many varieties yet the difference amongst them is known by few. The two main styles which are most popular are the serape and the traditional falsa blanket.

Serape VsFalsa Blankets

The serape blankets are hand woven with hand dyed materials which create unique tapestries of different colours.  The Mexican falsa blankets are also hand woven, and are made from a combination of acrylic, polyester and cotton. The difference is that the serape blankets are thin and colourful, and are mostly seen hanging in Mexican restaurants. On the other hand the Mexican falsa blankets are thicker and mostly used as yoga blankets.

Unique Colors& Patterns

What separates the Mexican falsa blankets from any other blanket is the personality and life that they add to space. By keeping in mind the theme of the room you can buy the blanket which offers the best colour combination. Yet it must be noted that it is extremely difficult to find matching pairs which is why it is recommended that you buy more beforehand.

Fabrics

The Mexican falsa blankets are made and imported from Mexico. They are known to be cosy, durable and stylish. It’s a common misconception that because falsa blankets are thick they are not convenient, however their weight is enough to be comfortably carried anywhere. The blankets are also easily washable due to their soft and absorbent material.

Multi-Use

The falsa blankets are not just your regular blankets as they can be used for many other purposes. They make great yoga blankets, prayer blankets, interior seat covers, couch decor, throw rugs as well as door mats.
