Are you going on holiday to Phuket in Thailand? You’ll definitely want to know where the best beaches in Phuket are so read on…
Patong Beach in Phuket
Patong beach is one of the largest and easily the most crowded beach on Phuket Island. Patong is the area with the highest concentration of hotels, restaurants and shops and consequently the highest number of tourists. The beach at Patong is relatively long with fine golden sand. During the summer months the water can be too choppy for deep swimming but you can always dip your feet in the water.
Kamla Beach in Phuket
Kamla beach is about five minutes north of Patong beach by car and makes a nice choice for people wanting the proximity to the nightlife and shopping of Patong but still want to relax on a quiet beach during the day time. Like most other beaches on Phuket Kamla beach faces west which means it’s exposed to seasonal changes in water conditions making swimming dangerous at some times of the year.
Bang Tao beach in Phuket
Bang Tao beach is the northern most beach on the west coast of Phuket and rarely visited by the majority of tourists. There is, however, a group of five top hotel resorts located next to the beach which means if you’re staying at one of these hotels you can spend your days bathing on Bang Tao beach. Although the presence of five large hotels makes Bang Tao quite self sufficient in terms of dining and shopping for small souvenirs it is quite far from both Phuket Town and Patong.
Karon Beach in Phuket
Karon Beach is located a few miles south of Patong and if peace and quiet is an important factor for you in choosing a beach this is a nice alternative to Patong beach. Karon beach is long with fine golden sand and palm trees growing about 10 metres from the shore. Although there are shops and restaurants around, Karon beach is a relaxed and quiet place in all but the peak winter months.
Kata & Kata Noi beaches in Phuket
These two beaches are fairly popular because of the plentiful hotel accommodation located nearby. Aside form a couple of expensive resorts there are also plenty of smaller and cheaper rooms available near Kata beach. Like most other beaches in Phuket there are sun beds available for a small fee. Kata bay is lined on both sides with lovely views of green hills.
Nai Harn Beach in Phuket
Nai Harn beach is located on the southern tip of Phuket but is still on the western side so seas can be rough at times of the year. The beach itself is smaller than most others but the area is very peaceful and quiet. There is also a lake at Nai Harn and the pavement surrounding it is a popular destination for joggers.
Rawai Beach in Phuket
The waters at Rawai beach are a lot calmer than elsewhere on Phuket because it is situated on the east of the Island. There are plenty of small restaurants serving grilled fish and you can take a small table by the beach and your food will be brought over to you.
