American Bald Eagles
American Bald Eagles posts collect short pieces on the national bird of the United States. Articles cover nesting habits in the Pacific Northwest and the Mississippi flyway, the rebound from near-extinction in the 1970s after the DDT ban, the protection status under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and the legal use of feathers by enrolled tribal members. There are also field notes on viewing sites in Alaska, Florida and along the Upper Mississippi in winter, and a few items on bald eagles in heraldry and Great Seal imagery.
