American Girl Jess is an 18” limited edition Girl of the Year doll that was released in 2006 by the American Girl company that produces a line of historical and contemporary period dolls. As a limited edition doll, American Girl Jess was available only for one year and has one book called Jess written by Mary Casanova. The doll’s full name is Jess Akiko McConnell.
American Girl Jess McConnell represents a 10 year old girl who is of mixed Japanese-American and Irish heritage. Her face mould is unique, reflecting her genealogy. The Jess doll has light skin and brown eyes. She sports dark brown thickly braided hair with auburn highlights. The American Girl Jess doll wears an orange blouse with floral embroidery and a flared orange and purple skirt with open toe slippers. Jess has a cloth body and movable limbs made from vinyl.
Jess is a curious, adventurous girl who is full of life. She has many adventures with her archaeologist parents. Her story focuses on the preservation of history and being responsible. Jess follows her parents on a long, 5-month archaeological expedition to Belize in Central America to uncover ancient Mayan historical artefacts.
