The city of Chino is popularly known for the Chino Hills that surround this region of California. Chino falls within San Bernardino, California, and occupies a strategic spot at the western end of the famous Riverside – San Bernardino area. The Chino Valley and the Pomona grant easy access to the region, making it a great place to live and invest in real estate.

The Chino Hills are located to the west of the city. In the north the city is neighbored by the Unincorporated San Bernardino County and on the northeast it has Ontario. The Riverside County is located to the south of the city.

Agriculture started flourishing in this part of California with the Spanish land grant that formed the Rancho Santa Ana del Chino. Over the years the area has specialized in growing orchards and row crops. Specialization in dairy farming has also followed suit.

Chino Green Valley

In recent years Chino has picked up the efforts to go green, which is another reason families settle in this area. Chino has done this to address the constant threat of global warming. The program initiated by the city is known as the “Green Valley Initiative.” The objective is to transform San Bernardino and Riverside counties into a region that integrates businesses and people with natural resources. This will in effect create new jobs and greater opportunities to pursue a higher quality of life.

A number of other county cities have joined the Green Valley initiative, including Fontana, Adelanto, Loma, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Rialto and the Town of Yucca Valley. A number of government bodies have also joined hands in order to further this initiative, such as the Western Riverside Council of Governments, Cucamonga Valley Water District, Beaumont, Cathedral City and the March Air Force Base JPA.
