Easy Danish pastry recipe : Ingredients

In order to prepare Danish pastry at home you will require 2 cups of unsalted butter, all purpose flour, milk, white sugar, active dry yeast, salt, eggs, lemon extract and almond extract

Directions

Start off by mixing the cream together with the butter in a medium-size bowl. Add about 2/3 cups of flour and mix ingredients well together. Next you have to divide the contents into two equal parts and roll each half using two pieces of store-bought wax paper. Next keep these sheets in the refrigerator.

On the side you need to mix the dry yeast together with 3 cups of the flour that you have remaining. Following this combine some of the milk, salt and sugar in a small saucepan and heat over medium flame. Following this you need to add the milk mixture to the yeast and flour in the bowl. To this you will add the eggs, almond extract and lemon extract. Stir for about three minutes until you find the dough to be firm and pliable.

Next up you need to cut the dough into half and make a 14-inch square part of each half. Place cold butter on each of the pieces of dough and fold the dough over the butter. Use your fingers to seal the edges and refrigerate the contents for about 30 minutes.
Once you take the contents out from the refrigerator you have to roll and fold each piece one more time and chill once again. This is because if the butter gets warm the dough will become extremely difficult to manage.

Next you will have to cut out the dough into the shape of your preference and insert them in the oven on an un-greased baking sheet. You can brush them with egg white so as to give them a shiny finish. It is important to keep a close eye on the Danish pastries while they’re in the oven. This is because they do not need to be baked for more than 8 to 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Once the pastries are ready you can use the toppings of your choice to garnish this Danish delight. You can make use of chocolate toppings or icing and sugar sprinkling in order to add a sweet flavor to your Danish pastry.
