French Toast Casserole

This dish also works best if you are short of time or want to prepare many dishes for a dinner. As the French toast casserole can be prepared overnight.


  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 12 slices of bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups milk


The first step is to melt and pour the butter in a pan around 9×13 inches.

Next, mix cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Whisk in milk, eggs and the vanilla extract together. Then you need to layer half of the bread pieces on the bottom of the pan. Also note that the casseroles can also be prepared with left over buns or bread slices without comprising on taste.

Sprinkle half cup of brow sugar over the bread in the pan. Then add the second layer of the bread slices.Pour your mixture over the slices, making sure that all sides are evenly covered with the mixture. Layer the cheddar cheese over the mixture and sprinkle the remaining sugar over the bread mixture. Now, cover the substance and leave it to refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, take out the well-set substance from the refrigerator. Replace the covering with a new foil layering until the time we have to work with the substance.

Preheat your oven to 350F to bake your French casserole for thirty minutes. Next, uncover the substance and bake for another fifteen minutes. Your French toast casserole should be done when set and golden brown.

You can go ahead and pour maple syrup on the top, bake for another 5 to 7 minutes to let the casserole caramelize.
