Maubeuge France is a small commune in the Nord department. It is located in the region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais in northern France. The Sambre River runs through Maubeuge and it is 9 kilometers from the border of Belgium. This small commune has a crest of four griffins – two red and two black, with a rising phoenix at the crown.
Maubeuge France, which is derived from the Latin name Malbodium, originated with the Maubeuge Abbey. This Christian monastery was founded in the 7th century by Saint Aldego and was both for nuns and monks. The relics of the Saint are buried within the church of Maubeuge.
