The Spanish have traditionally made very simple dessert dishes, so on the whole many Spanish dessert recipe’s are easy and simple to follow, often using very basic ingredients combined with minimal skill in preparation and cooking. Such a Spanish dessert, is the Spanish flan; a simple dish ready within an hour.

Easy Spanish Flan Dessert Recipe

The Spanish Flan is a custard based desert dish that that is easy to put together. You will need 2 cups of sugar, 26 ounces of evaporated milk, and 24 ounces of cream cheese, combined with 8 eggs and 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract.  Place a pan in the centre of your oven with one inch of water in the base, set the oven at 350°, next pour the 2 cups of sugar into a tube pan, and then caramelise over a high heat. When that is ready, mix all the other ingredients together using a blender and then pour the mix over the caramelised sugar. Place the tube pan and inside of the pan you already have in the oven and bake for just under an hour.

Easy Spanish Banana Dessert Recipe

This delicious but easy Spanish desert recipe is fairly typical of this simple style of Spanish cooking. Another easy Spanish desert recipe, is called platanos al horno or baked bananas. The ingredients are simple: 4 bananas, the grated rind and juice of a single orange, two tablespoons of dark rum, 3 ounces of brown sugar, and 3 ounces of butter. First peel and slice the bananas fairly thickly and place inside the heat proof serving dish, next pour the orange juice and rum all over the bananas, then sprinkle with the sugar and grated rind from the orange. Slice the butter into little cubes and place them on top of the bananas, cover the dish with foil and place in the centre of the oven that has been preheated at around 180° for 15 minutes. The golden brown baked bananas are ready to serve with either ice cream or fresh cream.

Easy Spanish Fruit Dessert Recipe

Here’s one more easy Spanish desert recipe: peras al vino, pears in red wine, you will need, 6 pears, a quarter of a pound of sugar and two bottles of red wine, with one cinnamon stick and three quarters of a pint of water, drop the pears into boiling water for just three minutes, then take them out and cool under the cold tap. When they have cooled down remove the peel then put the wine, water, cinnamon stick and sugar in a pan with a medium heat, as soon as it starts to boil, drop in the pears and leave a few minutes until they become soft, then remove the pears from the liquid and arrange in a glass bowl, leaving the liquid to simmer for another three or four minutes, then pour this over the pears, this can be served in the warm or cold from the fridge
