Knit Ripple Baby Afghan

Listed below are two fairly simple knit ripple baby Afghans:

Pattern One

Size 15 circular needles.  Finished size is 33″x46″.
Two different colors are used. 9 ½ ounces (895 yards) of each color.
Afghan is made holding one strand of each color together. You should use worsted weight yarn and size 15 needles.  This makes it bigger. This pattern calls for the use of three colors and varying the yarns as you go along.

Gauge: in stockinet stitch 11 stitchess and 14 rows= 4″
Gauge swatch 4″ square cast on 11 stitchess.  Work stockinet for 13 rows
Cast on 108 stitches.
Rows 1 and 2: Knit across
Row 3:  (right side) K2, increase, K4 [slip 1 K2 tog, PSSO], K4  increase twice, K4, slip 1 K2 tog, PSSO, K4 repeat from  across to last 3 stitches, increase, K2
Row 4: K2, purl across to last 2 stitches, K2
Row 5: Repeat Row 3
Row 6: Knit across
Row 7: Repeat Row 3
Repeat Rows 4-7 for pattern until afghan measures approx. 45″ from cast on edge, ending by working Row 5
Last 2 Rows: Knit across
Bind off all stitches in knit.
Size: Approx. 32″ x 36″.

Pattern Two

Materials:

Sport-weight yarn Jamie Baby (100% Acrilan® Acrylic, 196 yards per 1-3/4 oz. skein): 4 skeins each #200 White (Col A) and #257 Pale Yellow (Col B). Crochet hook size F/5 (4mm) or whatever size needed to get correct gauge; Yarn Needle.

Gauge: 22 single crochet and 10 rows = 3″ in Ripple pattern. To make gauge swatch, work instructions for Ripple Stitch Strip for 10 rows total. Piece should measure 3″ x 3″. To save time, take time to check your gauge.

*Yarn requirements suggested here are adequate. If you make any adjustments in length or width, or if your stitch gauge differs from the recommendation, then the yarn amount may not be sufficient.

Ripple Stitch Strip (make 5 strips each of Col A and Col B)

Row 1: Chain 22, work 2 single crochet into 2nd chain from hook, single crochet into each of next 4 chains, skip 1 chain, single crochet into each of next 4 chains, 3 single crochet into next chain; repeat to end, ending last repeat with 2 single crochet in last chain; turn.
Row 2: Chain 1, work 2 single crochet into first single crochet, 1 single crochet into each of next 4 single crochet, skip 2 single crochet, 1 single crochet into each of next 4 single crochet, 3 single crochet into next single crochet; repeat to end, ending last repeat with 2 single crochet in last single crochet; turn.

Repeat Row 2 until strip measures 36″ long.

Finishing

Whip stitch strips together alternating colors. Weave in all loose ends.
