Japanese Art posts cover periods from Jomon pottery through the Heian scroll painting tradition, the ink wash work of the Muromachi monks, the Momoyama screens of Hasegawa Tohaku and Kano Eitoku, the Edo woodblock prints of Hokusai, Hiroshige and Utamaro, the Meiji-era opening to Western influence, the Nihonga revival, and the contemporary work of Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara. Articles try to keep schools and lineages straight rather than treating Japanese art as a single style.
