The Mangaing Director added that the Australian Post Australian Legends award has always been a way of honoring the outstanding talent and determination of individuals and the six contemporary Australian designers and their work has received enough accolades to ensure their recognition by the Australian Post.
Mr. John also stated that the six members of the Australian fashion and couture industry were being honored because they had achieved success through their creative visions, inspiration, hard work and business acumen. These six Australians and their work are not only respected and admired within the country but also throughout the world. All six designers are admired for their daring, creative genius and entrepreneurial spirit. Their work is reflective of Australian culture, heritage the country’s identity, and sense of self. And the country would like to honor their contribution to the Australian way of life through the issue of these commemorative stamps.
All six designers were chosen due to their contribution to the advancement of contemporary Australian fashion and the impact that their work has had on the national identity. The creations of these designers are held in high esteem on the runways of Milan, Paris and New York and popular fashion magazines often hail their work as innovative and creative.
