Sand Lake is located about an hour and a half drive south from Ottawa and about half an hour north of Kingston on Lake Ontario. The two-thousand acre Sand Lake provides excellent fishing, sandy beaches, and boating opportunities in the lake and the Rideau canal system.
If you get tired of the lake, you can go golfing on nearby courses and the village of Elgin is just five minutes away to provide banking and shopping needs that may not be fulfilled on-resort. The three hundred kilometer long Rideau Trail snakes its way through Sand Lakes on the way from Kingston to Ottawa and provides an excellent hiking experience.
Sand Lake Campground & Cottages
The Sand Lake Campground & Cottages provide basic to full-service camping as well as cabins to suit all tastes and budgets. Check-in for the cottages starts after 2:00 pm and check-out is at 10:00 am. The rates are based on occupancy by two adults and dependent children under eighteen. Summer rentals are by the week, from Saturday to Saturday, and 50% deposits are needed to secure a reservation.
All cottages have electricity, heat, refrigerators, stoves, microwave ovens, toasters, coffee makers, cooking utensils, and crockery. The resort will rent bedding and pillows but they recommend bringing your own.
The Executive Chalet
This is a twelve hundred square foot, two-story cedar chalet with satellite television and DVD in the living/dining area. The kitchen has a dishwasher in addition to the amenities listed above. Two air-conditioned bedrooms have both a queen and single bed each plus there are two double futons in the living area. Two bathrooms are provided, a three-piece with a full tub and a two-piece next to the kitchen.
The rental includes a patio set, barbeque, and fire pit. The summer weekly rental is CAN$ 970 plus tax from June 26 to September 7. Spring and fall rates are lower at CAN$ 780. The cottage is available for winter rentals.
The Hillside
The Hillside is a seven hundred square foot, single-story winterized house. The kitchen and living/dining room serve three bedrooms, two with a queen bed and one with two queen beds. There is a full three-piece bathroom and the rental includes satellite television, DVD, fire pit, and a picnic table. The summer rental is CAN$ 840 and spring/fall rentals are CAN$ 675.
The Frontier, The Sunny, The Sundowner, & The Silver Dollar
The Frontier is a two-room cottage on the beach with a double bed in the bedroom and a double sofa-bed in the living/dining area. Summer rentals for the Frontier, the Sunny, the Sundowner, and the Silver Dollar are all CAN$ 567 per week and spring/fall rates are CAN$ 456.
The Sunny is a three bedroom cottage close to the beach with two queen beds and a single. The Sundowner is a two-story cottage with a privacy door to an adjoining Silver Dollar. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, a double bed in another bedroom, and two doubles and a twin in the loft. The Silver Dollar has two bedrooms with a queen bed in one bedroom and a double in the other.
