Argentina is home to many world class golf courses. To find out more about the best golf courses in Argentina read our guide for more facts & information…

One of the best things about Argentine golf courses for Europeans and North Americans is that because of its location in the Southern Hemisphere, Argentina enjoys summer weather during the winter months in the north. While the northern coastal cities like Buenos Aires enjoy mild weather most of the year, southern areas like Patagonia experience winter weather during June and July. This means that December and January are a perfect time for golfing vacations in Argentina.

One of the most historic golf courses in Argentina is located in the area of Mar del Plata. The course first opened in January of 1900 with a second track which opened in 1950. The course has been played by U.S. presidents Dwight Eisenhower and George Bush. Although both tracks are relatively short at around 6000 yards, they offer big challenges to golfers with undulating greens, sea winds and with the third and eighteenth holes providing long fairways.

Just outside of Buenos Aires is another historic golf course, the Jockey Club. Both tracks on this course were designed by Alister Mackenzie, known internationally for his golf course designs. Located only thirty minutes outside Buenos Aires, the Olivios Golf Club, constructed in the early 1950s offers 27 holes for an outstanding golf experience. Resort and hotel accommodations are easily available in and around Buenos Aires.

For great golfing from September to April, the Ushuaia Golf Club near Tierra del Fuego National Park is located near the southern tip of Argentina. During these summer months this area enjoys daylight until nearly midnight allowing for many hours of golfing pleasure. Ushuaia is further south than any other course in the world and although it lacks the bright city lights of Buenos Aires, it provides a great vacation experience.

Located at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the Llao Llao Hotel and Resort also offers wonderful golfing during the months of December, January and February. A variety of other summer activities makes this a super destination for the entire family. For North Americans looking for summer warmth in the cold winter months, Llao Llao is a perfect family vacation.

The sport of golf was brought to Argentina by European immigrants and was embraced wholeheartedly by the country. World renown Argentinian golfers include Eduardo Romero and Angel Cabrera who are regulars on the European tour and who have competed in tournaments in the United States. With outstanding golf courses and opposite seasons, Argentina offers golfers in the Northern Hemisphere the chance to practice their game year round.
